The shared foundation
All four Sunni madhhabs apply the Quranic shares of spouses, parents, children and other fixed-share heirs. They also evaluate eligible residuaries after the fixed shares have been assigned.
Where special cases can differ
- Who receives a surplus through radd when no residuary exists
- The inheritance and priority of distant kindred (dhawul arham)
- Cases involving the paternal grandfather together with siblings
- Advanced cases such as mushtarakah and Akdariyyah
